- What is ECU remapping?
Most modern vehicles today are control led by an ECU, most commonly known as an engine control unit.
The ECU contains software written on it which controls how the car, van or lorry performs due to fuel delivery and ignition timing. This software is most commonly known today as maps. Remapping optimises or rewrites these maps to change the fuel delivery and boost pressure of the turbo charger, as a result the engine will run more efficiently and have increased horsepower and torque figures.
- Why should I remap my vehicle?

- Will ECU remapping affect my warranty?
The solotune remapping program is completely undetectable to any dealer diagnostic machine so there is no void on your manufactures warranty.
- Can you return my vehicle back to its original state?
All of our files are completely reversible so you can return your car back to normal, most customers never choose to do this because they are so happy with the modification and see no reason to change the file back to standard.
Should I tell my insurance company? Whilst ECU Remapping is fully undetectable, the legally correct answer to this has to be "yes", you should inform your insurance companies, however it is totally up to yourself whether you choose to.
- Will I use more fuel after the Remapping?
No it is in fact the opposite, because of the way our ecu remaps are produced you are more likely to get more fuel consumption due to more torque you are able to get through your gears a lot quicker which enables a lot less fuel being used. This all depends on driving style.
- Will the process damage my engine or any components?
The solotune files that are used to program the ecu of the vehicle are never programmed to any dangerous parameters and are always tested vigorously before we release them to the public. This ensures that your vehicle is in safe hands. You’re more likely to experience your vehicle running more efficiently, resulting in a longer life.
- How long does the process take?
The process is generally completed in an hour, different types of vehicles may vary in time but the process is no longer than 2 hours
